Pulling Earth #24
Cards, grass and imagination
I have found it hard to focus this week. Even making time to sketch has felt like a burden. (It’s funny how some things don’t get easier!) It wasn’t until Violet and I played a game of cards that a sketch even seemed possible. While grabbing snacks to reward our hard work, I noticed some ornamental grass on top of the fridge. They are an eye catching blush pink and soft to the touch—a combination I’m feeling!
I was still carrying some impatience so my sketching was fast and free. A nice change from the inner critic I was hoping to silence. I started with long lofty lines. Then furious squiggles with my pencil and flicks to capturing the furry tops.
This is why I started this newsletter: to force a stop and gaze outward at something beautiful. To let the natural world have an impact on my day-to-day. To pay attention.
And just like that my sketch is done. Like a game of cards.
Bec finds me sketching and remarks on the pink colour.
How will you include that in your sketch?”
Imagination.
